Problem with an item bought online from the UK

I was just wondering if anyone could offer me any advice I bought an item online payed through paypal on June 5th the item over time has gotten worse now to point where it doesn't work at all.

The "good" folks at paypal won't lift a finger to help me because the 45day window is long gone (doesn't surprise they got their cut from the sale which is all they care about) they gave me these 3 options

    1. Contact my credit card company because I used my card to make the payment

I already did this and because the item was delivered they also will not lift a finger to help me they will only do something if the item didn't show up

    2. Contact the Guards

Which is pointless and not even worth looking into.

    3. Contact the British Trading standards

I already looked at the website they say they don't deal with individual complaints and to contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Advice but I don't know if I contact the UK or Irish citizens advice? And if I do will they even be able to anything for me?

The value of the item is 100euro while I do want the money back I am more interested in the seller accepting responsibility because I asked them a specific question before I bought the item.

I asked if it needed to be mounted (if I had of been told it had to be mounted I would not have purchased it in the first place) in June which they told me it didn't need to be mounted.

But then their solution to my problem when they emailed me this morning was that I do need to mount it in order for it to work.

When I pointed out to them the fact that I already asked them this before I bought it and they told me it didn't need to be mounted they then sent me back a very ignorant, cheeky reply because they know the paypal claim date is long gone so theirs not much I can do.

So can anyone help and advise me what to do.

    Thanks

pointless because it is absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with them and they CANNOT get involved. To even think of it as an option is ridiculous.

Put bad review of the company / product on amazon if they sell there or ebay and inform them you are sending details to european consumer office and will be taking small claims action.
