Help! Kitchen tiles

    Hi all,

We have decided to put in a new kitchen. It is a vanilla cream high gloss kitchen from Cash and Carry. Unfortunately, deciding on that seemed to be the easy bit! We just cannot sort out floor/wall tiles.

Basically it is a darkish room, hence the high gloss. We are also thinking of cream floor tiles to match ( again not sure what or where to get). The only thing is that with all that cream, we are hoping to break it up by putting in something like aqua blue mosaic tiles or patterned blue/cream tiles on the wall and a border of the same on the floor for a bit of character.

Has anyone any ideas or links to source such tiles? Or better yet has anyone a similar kitchen and what tiles did they use? We are based in Munster and would appreciate any advice/tips.

    Thanks

We put in an ivory kitchen with walnut worktops.

We also put large polished porcelain tiles on the fllor, in cream. Look really nice.

The walls are painted a light green/olive, really goes with the kitchen unit.

But a bit like yourself, we are stuck on what wall tiles to put around some of the walls, in fact we have been trying for decide for a year or so! Don't want to go creamish, as there will be too much light colours. Thinking of a very light green, but that will tie the paint colour to always being green.

    Hi
I wouldn't introduce another major colour for the sake of in in tiles.
Instead try to break up any potential 'blandness' by creating visual texture.
Have a look for splashback tiles like these perhaps:

Thanks for the advice guys. Its funny but after a weekend looking at different options and talking to people, we are considering the two things which have been mentioned here:

    1) Niman, we are considering painting the kitchen another colour other than cream, similar to what you have had done or,

    2) Firlodge, we have looked at some splashbacks and are really liking them:

We would hope to make the kitchen warmer then using table/chairs/ pictures etc. Still alot to think about but have to make decisions!
