Looks like Putin got sick of being reminded of America when he see's the golden arches, he shut a load of restaurants down (never considered them a restaurant though), will Starbucks or subway be next?

he's realised that this is his last chance to make or break so he's doing everything he can to cause chaos so he can hold on to power, it'll work temporarily until the money runs out and the people turn against him...time will tell if he pulls it off but i doubt he will, this is the 21st century where big companies like McDonalds rule the world, not governments

With Europe so dependant on Russian gas I cannot see the money running out anytime soon for Russia and I don't see Putin going anywhere the Russians love him

The link to the story that the OP couldn't be arsed posting.

In fairness I don't blame Putin - (the burgers there are shít), I had one there in 1991 just so that I could act the smug bastard on forums like this years later.

(Biggest McDonalds in the world then - Or so we were told. But the food there was shít).

I thought it was a cool thing to do at the time.

The fecking cold war is backfiring on those holiday snaps I took now.

They were closed because they failed health inspections. Only a few were closed. There is no evidence that Putin has anything to do with this

I Moscow over there soon before they're all gone.

High time we had a dictatorial lunatic Russian leader that seeks ever more outlandish ways to annoy the west. Having Muslims as the Enemy Of The West but the Russian iconography is better.

Now Putin just needs to develop a drink problem and reunite the soviet union and we're laughing.

Kinda hard on the people working there ain't it?

433 McD outlets in Russia... that's a lot of people without a job now.

They will be given roles in a new chain of patriotic restaurants.

They will be called 'Uncle Vladi's good time meat sandwich & kid-tetactive shirtless pony ride emporium'

(The name is a working title).

Are all the McDonalds outlets in Russia closing? I remember queuing for over an hour for the first one back in 1991 on a school tour - it was the only edible food on our trip back then.

how is this thread still open.I thought you at least had to have some morsel of truth in the OP

This is the first move to war with the USA.

Apparently two countries that have McDonalds have never gone to war with each other.

    This closure removes one obstacle.

Isn't Russia dependent on Europe for pretty much everything? They produce very little beyond weapons and fossil fuels.

nope this thread is just spreading lies. A few were closed for failing a health and safety inspection. Will reopen when they fix the problems

I don't get your drift here can you elaborate

my "drift" is that this thread is classic Russia bashing, similar to all western media reporting on such matters.4 of the 430 outlets have been temporarily closed so mcdonalds can get there kitchens up to spec before they resume shovelling that muck out again.i know your take on this is of a humour nature but you got to stick to the facts no?

I'm all in favour of Russia closing them down but stating health and saftey breaches when its clearly politics causing this,
it's all good when America wants to throw their weight around globally but when Russia does what America has been doing for years we should all take note and pose sanctions,

you might think I sympathise on the american side by creating this thread but if you read the title it was for satirical purposes and when the story broke the news was sketchy and didn't mention it was only a handfull of resturants they made it seem like it was a lot more,

now enough being serious and back to my drinking and posting hysterical puns

You got brought on a school tour to Russia 23 years ago? How much did that cost?

Scotland, London and Paris were all the ones our school ever managed!
