Probably a fault somewhere in the system. What car, engine, year?

The EPC light refers to Electronic Pedal Control and can be triggered for a variet of reasons. The first step is to get the car diagnosed with VCDS or similar. Commonly, throttle bodies can get gunked up with deposits and due to the sensitive nture of the motors that drive the throttle plate, can cause malfunctions. Air leaks may also be the cause, though often the engine management light will trigger on also. Feel free to PM for more information.
