Hey peps, so I'm on a job-bridge atm and today I got a Job offer and the company are keen for me to start asap, happy days.
So I know I only have to give 1 weeks notice but the hitch in that is I'm due to start 1 weeks holidays tomorrow, anybody knows what this means, does it matter or do I have to have my 1 weeks holidays and then work 1 week.

My advice would be to go in tomorrow and just explain that you got a paid job elsewhere and the company want you to start as soon as possible. Given that you're on a Jobbridge, they might even just let you leave tomorrow given your upcoming holidays the following week. At worst, they might ask you to do what you suggested about working a week after your holidays. Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it - after all, you are leaving a Jobbridge for paid work :D.

    P.S. Enjoy the holiday!

Walk away from that Jobbridge internship and never look back. :) You're supposed to give notice but what are they going to do, like? It might be an issue if you were relying on a reference from them but apparently you're not so just leave. This is the chance they take when they decide not to pay staff.

Thanks for the reply guys, thing is it is a small company that I'm on the job-bridge and they have treated me well and I wouldn't have got this job unless I had gained the experience from this role. But I'm keen to start this role, I'm just wondering what my rights are in this situation

Just have a word with the people in your current place and explain the situation. They should have no problem letting you off considering youre working there for free. Walking out should only be considered if you wont want a reference from them in the future so it might be a good idea to leave on good terms.

Is there a way you can finalize the work you're doing at the moment?

If you leave with all the work finalized you should be able to negotiate a reference out of them.

At the end of the day that's what Jobbridge is all about, getting a reference.

At the end of the day you are being offered a paid position. Go and talk to the "Job bridge" company immediately and let them know you are giving them 1 weeks notice. If you haven't booked anything for the holidays give them the option of you working there for the week but say your preference would be to take the holiday. See what they say? They may want a compromise where you go in for a couple of days next week to tidy/finalise the work you have been doing. Make sure you leave on good terms if possible.

Well done on getting the job!
Just curious to know how this went for you, I'm on job bridge atm so would like to know for future reference. ( I wasn't even aware a weeks notice was a requirement)
