Fiat multijet DPF issue

    Hi,

Hope someone can advise on best course of action. I have a 2005 Croma 1.9 Multijet (150) which has proved to be a cracking motor over the last year. But now the DPF has failed and needs replacing. However, I found the receipt for a similar replacement last year ( in the UK - £1200!!) in its history, so not too keen on spending this sort of money for something that is not going to last.

So ive decided to have its core removed. Morality issues aside, where is the best place to get the ECU reprogrammed to stop it from regen'ing the DPF?

    thanks

Before you proceed with having the DPF removed, which I believe you will then need to have the EGR switched off, you should check out if the NCT will start checking for this.
In the UK they are checking if the DPF has been removed, if yes then it's a fail.

How do you know it has failed?

    Hi,

Re MOT: I know, so i intend to just remove the inner core, and leave the case in the exhaust system. EGT sensor too. Should pass the visual inspection.

Its failed because my wife drove it for 4 months with the 'change oil now!!' warning displayed. When I discovered this, and had the oil changed and the service indicator updated, it tried to regen a few times but failed with the appropriate OBD code ( accompanied by 'limp mode' and black smoke)

Have you tried getting a forced regen done on it?
People have also had good results with a power washer ;)
As to your original question, no idea, sorry.

Ask Joe Power if he can do it

Done that, and it seemed to work! (a bit) However, when taking off the dpf, we found that the EGT sensor had been cross threaded into the dpf... I think i damaged it taking it off, as the car wont regen because it cant get a reading for the exhaust temp. :-( Dealer only part....

Thanks, dgt, I will give them a ring, Only issue is getting a limp mode croma to dublin. Any remapping places in Munster?

There's a garage just south of Enniscorthy that specialise in that work. They will also 'lend' you a car while your car is being done. If there are no problems, it's a couple of hours.

Google Ryan's garage Enniscorthy. I know it's not Munster, but it's a lot closer than Dublin.

Oddly enough, enniscorthy is about the same distance from me as dublin!! :-(
