I saw him once in KFC in Derry, he was on his own enjoying a bucket of chicken, seemed a happy guy.

Did he coin the phrase "Stroke City" for Derry\Londonderry?

Yep - the first one to use Stroke City.
    Brilliant broadcaster.
    RIP.

I will really miss hearing him on Radio Foyle.. a charismatic, sharp and witty man. Things wont be the same without him..

An absolute legend, it's a crying shame we've lost him. His show was easily the best on the radio and he was a great champion for small local bands.

heading to a gig in Belfast one day and saw him casually walking down the street coming my way.
I stopped him and asked for a picture, he was more than happy to do it and couldnt have been nicer.

    R.I.P Gerry

I have fond memories of listening to Gerry's show in my Granny's kitchen.

I posted this news in the Radio forum, only seeing this thread now. Very funny man and a brilliant DJ, with his own personality, which seems to be one commodity radio no longer has any use for. My dad was a big fan, brings back some good memories..
