'No Network Adapter' after Windows 7 reinstall

Seem to have broken my friend's laptop.

It was running very slowly so I decided to reinstall Windows 7. All was going fine until I realised the internet wasn't working. I went online and read some Microsoft message boards. Says I need chipset drivers so I went about installing them. Seems to be a common thing.

Most of the online help says to right click the network adapter icon to activate it. But I don't have any network adapter icon to click on.

Anyone have any idea what to do??

Install the network drivers, they can usually be gotten from the laptop manufacturers website

If after you install the drivers, and you still have no wireless network connection, check the laptop for a wireless switch.

Thanks. Wireless seems to be ok. But the cursor does a weird thing. Randomly
jumps around the page. Ive tried putting the cursor out of the typing box but it still makes it impossible to type. I've googled but it just said take off precision thing, which didn't help.
Its a HP 635. Any ideas?!?

You might also need a driver for that to make it work smoothly. Have a look on the HP website under your laptop's make and model and see if there's a touchpad driver listed there.

Great! After a fresh install, vital stuff like the display and touchpad will work with a basic driver, to enable you to configure the machine and to install proper drivers. Even if something is working after an install, its usually worth installing the most up-to-date driver for it because you'll generally get better performance from it. Touchpad included, obviously!

Definitely. Many people, even those working in the industry, tend to avoid installing touchpad drivers but it can make a huge difference to do so. Especially with the new "clickpads" where the buttons are integrated into the touchpad itself. These are a nightmare to use without the proper driver installed (and aren't too great even after that). :p
