Now that I've got your attention.....

    Ah no

Actually it was a comment I read of Facebook. It said 'as le fay satanist I ......'

Needless to say I quickly clicked the guys FB profile to scan through.

It involves self deification and 'magic' being a rather eccentric spiritual person myself (but not evil ) . I took a look.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaVeyan_Satanism

There is a thing called Satanic Virtue.

Satanists.....this time they may be more evil...cuz they might be pretending to be good....wait a min..thats just like every other religion!

    Hmm whats your judgement .?

Satanism is just a religion like any other. Gets a bad rep from Christians now and again.

No worse than most religions. Certainly better on respecting other peoples' autonomy, bodily and mentally.

It seems like a more pretentious version of atheism to be honest, from what I've read about it anyway.

There's LaVeyan Satanism and there's theistic Satanism - they're not the same thing, but people join both to be counter-cultural and rebellious, it makes them feel unique and special or whatever.

Sounds suspiciously like Libertarianism dressed up in religious form.

Except Satanism is more realistic and humanitarian.

LaVeyan Satanism is just another way that men children rebel against the system.

Same as wearing fedora hats, keeping an unkempt appearance, growing neckbeards or goatees, listening to heavy metal bands, proclaiming their atheism, enjoying quirky movie genres and sub-cultures... basically anything that that they think might get them a tut or disapproving look from their parents (or others of their parents generation)

I'm starting to prefer the Satanists. Don't think I've ever read about one being a condescending ****.

I really don't get why they call themselves Satanists when they state more than once that they are Atheists and have no belief in the supernatural-so the idea of them calling themselves Satanists kinda denies itself, seeing that Satan is a character from the bible(the baddie,of course-and all ****e,of course).
Unless they actually WANT to be demonized by xtians and other theists..??

    It's not about being salacious.

Nor is it a statement, or to be a rebel without a cause as someone suggested.

Those Yazidis are fans of Shaitan (Satan), they consider him to be the leader of the archangels, not a fallen angel. Their religion backdates Christianity by 4,000yrs. The ISS or the Int'l Space Station or someone like that... aren't fans of their slight interbreedin' whotnots and fair complextion, ah whatever floats your boat I guess.

Depends how you interpret it really. Kills far less people than God and comes across as a bit of a Prometheus character.

Well if you look at it this way, Lucifer was cast out of heaven for challenging God and wanting people to think for themselves. Some interpretations have him as being given the task of testing humans by God, luring them into temptation to test their love of big beardy, which is a pretty thankless job. Satan gave humans free will against a god intent on ignorance and willful obedience.

Plus Satan has never killed anyone. really look it up, no deaths in the bible are attiributed to him. how many people did God kill just to spite humans? Millions. he even brags about it, and orders people to be killed in his name despite telling us not to kill each other.
The god of the old testament is cruel, vicious and spiteful, and basically tells you to worship him or spend forever in hell. I can't remember who said it the devil but a great quote about him is "what Christian ever prayed for the one sinner who needed it the most?"

I think even within christianity there's a few different attitudes to Satan. I mean obviously nobody thinks he's great, but I seem to recall some Christianity fellah going on about how man can only conceive of good and evil as a dialectic so it was necessary, in order for man to know god, that he also know Satan. Bit of a ying/yang thing like. I dunno where I read that though.

That would be all great apart from the fact that the whole thing is made up by someone out of his head on Yaks Milk and Magic Mushrooms Yonks ago.
