Doorbot - Compatible with our Electricity?

    Hi all,

I'm interested in this door bell product - http://www.getdoorbot.com

The website says "doorbell transformers with a voltage of 8 VAC to 24 VAC are compatible with doorbot".

Does that mean I can order the product and simply hook it up to the wires which currently serve my existing bog standard door bell? I know the US electricity system is different to ours so I don't want to waste $200 and risk electrocuting someone.

Cheers in advance for your input.

    Ben

You can even just run it on its own battery.

But if you want to use you existing bell transformer, check what output voltage is on it, should be written somewhere.

on the spec it says 12-24v

some trafos will only be 8v and you have to link out your chime obviously to power the doorbot directly

it says you get 1 year out of the internal 3500mAH battery ,it's rechargeable via usb connection on the unit

It will run on 8v to 24v AC

You must have a doorbell in series with it

The doorbot cannot be hooked up directly to a transformer.

There must be a doorbell connected in series with the transformer.

Doorbell transformers with a voltage of 8 VAC to 24 VAC are compatible with doorbot.

    Thanks All,

Seems like the product needs a lot of development before it actually does what it says on the tin, see http://www.cnet.com/uk/products/bot-home-automation-doorbot.

Great idea, poor execution. Not unusual for a technology start up.

Think I'll wait for V2 to be released, if it ever is!!

    Anyone recommend something similar?

    Ben
