my bosch washing machine on spinning with a load is tripping the trip switch. the bearings seem smooth and no play in the drum but what i notice is that the drum is spinning offcentre. why would the inner drum be offcentre to the outer tub

if the inner drum is off centre to the outer tub one of the arms of the shaft assembly has broken which allows the drum to touch the heater element and cut into it thereby causing it to short

your bang on right, took the heating element out and can see where it was rubbing on 1 side. the worst thing is i dont think you can get the spider without the drum for this machine bosch waa24171gb/12.
i took tub apart and 1 of the the 3 arms seems to be broke

nearly any Bosch or Siemens unit will fit if you can find one scrapped, were you using liquid mostly for detergent?

it looks like the washing powder done the harm. there was a build up of it around the arms. even the 2 arms that were not broke were all eat through aswell and would have broke anytime
have a new machine ordered but will keep this machine and get a spider of a scraped machine, off the machines you mentioned.
there was like rivets attaching the spider to the thr drum, i had to cut the head of them with small grinder. i guess when i get another spider i can just use bolts
