    What would ye offer?

12 acres sounds alot. You will also need a run back so that you do not poach his field. He may not be interested as it may delay sowing in spring if land gets badly poached. It also depends on if he is sowing it and fertility condition.

    140 days I need 30t on DM
    4T/HA crop
    I actually need 18 acres.
It's right beside my yard. Has two entrances onto my main road way.
Its a 40ac field so idea would be to come 100m from bottom ditch and sow up from that at leave 50 or 100 metres at top for ground for heifers to lie. .
Malting barley growers so fields aren't normally touched until march. I'd be hoping to be out by 2nd week in feb

Its ripe now. So will be cut this week I'd say.
Could sow next week if he wanted to let me use field for the winter
This field used to belong to this farm but was sold by previous owner. Thats why it has two gates onto my roadway

Will the poaching affect next years crop?

I know a few lads around here wouldn't let cattle into stubble, as they feel that they churn up the soil too much, and leave it worse for the next years crop...

    Maybe that's not right tho?

Had cattle on a bit of stubble here last year, didn't see a problem was very lightly stocked though.

ask him first, he might refuse you point blank

but if not you could reduce poaching by having a back fence to minimise the time cattle are on the same bit of ground

sowed 20 acres of rape yesterday myself, rolled it today

I have a shed for them and I have silage its the straw that's the problem.
    I can't get it it.

If I did get it all I'd have us seed cost. By the time its up it would be too Kate to put out N

What about westerwolds on more acres you could get a couple for grazings off it and less poaching?

    Believe it or not yes.
    About 200 bales short
Every one has there own customers
The lad we got it off was approaches by a mushroom company to take all his straw and he agreed because it made life easier for him

Don't know where you are in Wexford, but where I am it's a buyers market. No demand from up the country, regulars, shed, or chop are the options

We don't go near anyone unless we have the money to pay for it when we have it baled.

My straw comes from about 60 miles away every yr, I'm sure lads in the west of Ireland are getting it from further again. There's no better value than ur part of the country, I'd imagine.
