FETAC question?

Hi I've just completed my leaving cert this June. I'm doing a PLC this Sept doing an art portfolio course. Afterwards I'm hoping to apply to Art colleges in Scotland/England.
I'm so confused on how these Fetac points are recognised abroad? (If there even considered outside of Ireland) Is there an option on the Ucas website that tells me? I can't seem to find information anywhere. Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks

Best bet is to email the colleges that you're interested in and find out what their minimum entry requirements are for Fetac. They should tell you how many distinctions/merits you need. They will be aware of what Fetac is and it is quite well regarded over there.

You'll also need a good personal statement as part of the application process detailing your life experience, passion for this subject, future goals etc. I'd guess that for Art courses that a portfolio might come in to it too and maybe an interview. Send out a group email to a bunch of universities and you'll get a good idea of what you should be aiming for. Good luck! :)

I looked at using a Level 5 to get access to colleges in England and was told they were worth **** all more than my LC. Level 6 would be recognised as an advancement.

It depends on the college and it depends on the course.
For nursing, FETAC pre-nursing courses are well regarded and many people get into nursing courses in the UK that way. I'm not completely sure about Art portfolio based courses, but it may well be the same situation.
