    They're gone. Isn't that enough?

Well yeah, they've gone home, that's kind of obvious - but why?

Is Sligo not 'The-Place-To-Be' for travelling musicians?... And if not, why not?

You've kind have answered your own question. If it's obvious that the Fleadh is over and they've gone home (as well as all the visitors to town), why would they wait around?
Sligo was only 'The-Place-To-Be' as you put it during the Fleadh and now that it's over, it's gone back to the way it was before the Fleadh was here.

They'll all be back next year however.

There's only so much of the same tune over and over again they could bear, so they've gone home.
