I played in the one last yeah which ran over into this year. I'm in the international pairs section. It's good fun. But you pay for each round at whatever centre you choose as your home course. It's totally legit. Mark Creedon is a gent.

Myself and a buddy have registered for the 2014 international pairs a few months back..registration has been extended twice to the end of this month and we are losing interest if im to be honest as its been 3 months waiting around.

Hopefully it will kick off soon.

The man running it lost his son there last month. He was only around 21 I think. So he postponed the start for a month or two. Understandably so. He also put back the finish of last years one. It will start alrite, just give it a few weeks I'd say.

That truely is a tragic situation and my sincerest heartfelt condolences to that man and his family, but surely an email to that effect would have been more in order, instead of saying and I quote from here "Due to high demand, registration deadline has been extended until August 31st".

I cannot disagree with this more. In fact I hate the way comments like that are worded.

You can disagree as strongly and any way you like, still doesn't change the fact that people appreciate honesty more than some pseudo BS about "high demand".

Someone selling something never extends a deadline 'due to high demand' - its invariably either due to low demand and they have to try to give themselves more time to sell more, or because they havent got what they are selling, ready to deliver.

Neither of us know what the reason or why but I would guess that the family weren't comfortable making public such a tragic and personal loss. Anything else would be crass.

Congratulations you've hit every fairway, but completely missed my point.

What sort of sincere heartfelt condolences are immediately followed by a dig at the person you're "consoling"?

Your own statement is a perfect example of the pseudo BS you dislike in others.

Point lost again, are yourself and lawman brothers?
It seems perfectly logical to me that when one is visited by such a tragedy, that the done thing is to offer ones condolenes before making ones point, it would appear that you and your learned friend live in a world where such tragedy also obsolves you from all future critique regarding your business?, note: not personal life.
The point which was so obviously lost, was and is that in the time it takes to update the website, why not send an email explaining to all particpants that there has been a close personal tragedy and hence forth there will be a delay in this years competition, or alternatively cancel and give refunds.
That way you dont unintentionally mess people whilst you also continue to keep the goodwill you have worked on to build from previous years.
But hey maybe yourself and "the lawman" know better.

I got your point, if you had said something like, " I know this is a tragic situation but....." then fine no objection and I actually think you're probably right. It's not a big deal though if someone makes a slightly poor decision PR wise while their dealing with something big in their life, in other words give them a break.

What I'm objecting to ( and the point you've so obviously missed :)is the "sincere heartfelt" nonsense. It's just a formulaic meaningless phrase uttered so that you can follow it up with whatever you like, heartfelt my a****.

Worse then that you follow it up with a rant about Pseudo BS, that is exactly what I felt your condolences were.

The point made by cairny was exactly the point I was making in my first post. The fact that its taken about 6 posts for you to get the message is a shame. That is if you have got the message.

I'm aware you have a Gra for me and all but don't let that cloud your judgement.

Ah lads, ye'll have to learn not to take everything so literal and stop dissecting everything single word and expression into it's lowest common denominator, maybe that'll come with age and experience idk, I hope so though.

He agrees with my point, just has a minor issue with the way it was conveyed, no biggy there, we'll move on.
On the other hand you "strongly disagree" with what God only knows, perhaps you're trolling and trying to be inflamatory idk, and allegedly I have a "gra" for you, hmmmm au contraire mon frere.

I have an issue with the way it was conveyed AND with the need to make it at all. I thought I'd made that clear.

So we're taking you too literally huh? That's a good one, makes things easy to resolve though, just go back and edit it out.

I'm dealing with the content of your posts only, please lay off the condescending personal comments.

What are you on about now?

wat stage of it are ye at ?? I hope ur right cos it would be unfair to people in the earlier rounds if he did that !!!

I don't know what stage we are at. But O have talked to Mark on the phone and in my opinion he's a sound lad. If you or anyone has doubts about how the competition is run then just email him and ask him. He is very approachable guy. I'm sure he would be happy to explain anything you are wondering about. I have had questions before and I just emailed him and he contacted me immediatly. So I have no issues. Rather than posting a comment saying the organiser is "supposed to have done something" and "wondering if this is true" maybe contacting him and confirming the facts first before posting a comment that could damage his competition and reputation would be a more appropriate thing to do.
