Tax car without insurance

    Hi all,
I recently purchased a car that has now gone to have a full ground up restoration. I hadn't taxed it, as it was trailered to the restoration place. This was about 3 months ago. Its due back in the next few months (potentially January), and I was just thinking about the tax situation. Stupidly, I never SORD it off the road. So, in order for me to do that, I have to pay the back tax, to SORD it (I assume). However, when filling in the tax form, it looks for insurance details. Its currently not insured, as its nowhere near a road, nor is there any chance of damage beyond what it what is currently being fixed.

Can anyone advise how I can do this, or do I just wait until its done, get insurance, and then back date it?

    Thanks

I would sell it to a close friend or relative and get them to SORD it. Arrears of tax melt away into the autumn mists. They can sell it back at a later date

No, the car isn't on the public road.

Has anyone tested the theory that if a car isn't on the system and hasn't been on the road since before 1993 that you can just walk in and tax or SORD it without any problems or payment?
This was talked about as fact before the SORD rules came in.

I'm not talking about the car and i'm not trying to take this tread off topic....I'm talking about the statement made by corktina !!!!

if it had been used on the road , yes it would be.

However that is the (totally stupid) way the Law is set up and until the Government wake up to the half-arsed system they have created, it's totally legal to do this.

Fill in anything you like in the Insurance section. Iv done it before when I went to the tax office and forgot to bring the details. I just filled out an insurance companies name and made up a policy number. No one ever said anything.
