Just a quick question, I know it will probably start a debate, but what are peoples preference in cycling shorts/bibs.

I use the 2xu compression ones at present but I can't seem to get them anymore.

Assos are expensive but are they worth the money or would i better buying 10 pairs of aldi/lidl,

I am a leisure cyclist cycling 50/60kms up tp 4/5 times a week.

Altura ProGel are hard to beat at their price.

The age old debate. It depends really on how much you spend. Shorts/Bibs are the one thing I would not skimp on. It is worth paying the extra money for a good pair. €50 or €60 would get you a decent entry level pair but the better pairs can set you back alot more.

I would give the Aldi/Lidl ones a miss, the padding is of low quality and will flatten after 1/2 rides.

You shouldn't economise on your contact points with the bike - hands, feet and @ss!

I must say I loved my 2xu for comfort. I would be willing to pay up around €100 for a pair that's where the 10 pairs of lidl/aldi would come in.

I don't really know about named brands and reviews on chain reactions are all good for nearly all shorts.

I thought if anything, recommendations for cycling bib pants would be popping up at this time of the year as we approach winter!

But anyhow; I'm a leisure cyclist like you OP and would do similar distances. All my cycling gear has been from AliExpress and by far, the best shorts have been these: http://goo.gl/k8sDG3

The padding is truly excellent. You will see that other sellers even on AliExpress are selling the same item for 30/40/50e.
