All the current offerings seem to be 64bit windows.

You could get Windows separately if you need 32 bit. Not sure about manufacturer installed windows, but as far as i know the licence key for windows 7 oem bought separately will work for both 32bit and 64 bit.

There is also various compatibility modes to run older software in 64 bit and newer versions of windows. Running a virtual machine may, or may not be an option.

Don't I need a 32 bit processor to run windows 32 bit?.. can't seem to find anyone selling 32 bit processors

So I could buy a cheap 64bit laptop with 64 bit windows and get the OEM license key from it. Then I could get win8 32 bit, install it and use the key to activate and this will run 16 bit programs in compatibility mode? Is this all correct?

Im not sure if you can do it with the manufacturers windows install - they have their own proprietary installs. Somebody else might be able shed some light on it

any oem key will work on a 32bit or 64bit (oem) copy of windows, it doesn't discriminate on if it's 32/64 bit as long as it's the correct version (basic, pro, ultimate, etc.)

that said, you may well be able to get it working with compatibility mode in 64bit windows anyway to save you some hassle.

    .

That sounds promising. One final thing, where can I get a copy of windows 8 32 bit, there doesn't seem to be an option to download it from MS

Suggest you install this software on a 64bit machine- you might be surprised- it might work perfectly- and save you all sorts of hassle........

I run all manner of 32 bit legacy programmes on a 64 bit version of Windows 7- I've yet to have an issue with anything.........
