    Hi guys,

I've got an application pending for jobseekers benefit, and was also wondering about whether I am entitled to rent supplement.

I share a house (in Dublin) with 3 other guys, and my share of the rent is €650.

I've read citizensinformation.ie, and from what I can see the limit in Dublin is €350, but I'm wondering does this mean that I can get rent supplement up to this amount, or because my rent is above this amount I am not entitled to anything? It's a bit unclear to me.

I was able to afford the rent when I was employed.

    Thanks

You are entitled for rent upto the limit - so you would be over the limit and not eligible.

Hi Dave 350 a month for a houseshare is the celling any more than that they can deny you rent allowance and suggest you move to a place within the rent limits.

Personally I think the limits are very unrealistic. Hopefully they will increase in the next budget:)

    Not a prayer I'm afraid.

Hi The limit for a single person is off the wall. Why should someone with 1 child be eligible for 950 when there's a ceiling of 350 for a single person.
