Thumb Turn Lock

Does anyone know how difficult it is to change the lock on the inside of a patio door from a Key one to a Thumb Turn?

Does the whole cylinder have to be replaced (ie get new keys cut) or is it possible to just replace the internal half (if that makes sense).

You have to change the whole cylinder, and thus get new keys.

Assuming this is a PVC door, with ISEO barrels, It's a straightforward job - you'll just have to remove a single screw from the side of the door where the lock is, use the key to rotate the barrel sufficiently to remove the cylinder, and then slot in the new one. Replace the screw, and you're done

    Thanks Spocker.

It is indeed a PVC door. Was only installed about a year ago. Can't be sure of what barrel type it is but I'll double check when I get home.

Spockers advice is sound. In addition, when you remove the handles and then the side securing bolt, you will most likely need to insert the key (either side will do) and turn the key to a neutral position to remove the barrel. Easily done.

    Success. Thanks all.

    Surprisingly easy to do.
