bigger this year as last year there was only a class for sept1 to dec 31st and there were approx 25 in that class. This year there are 2 classes for Sept to Dec again and for Jan to Apr. I would then expect over 50 Bull calves as overal all prize money is approx €20k over the 2 classes which will bring out the best of the Bull calves on the circuit this year

I attended yesterday great day and great show a real credit to the organisers. Spent some time at the angus section and there were 2 super bull calf classes with definitely the best angus cattle I have seen all year. The winning bulls more suited to suckler rather than dairy farmers but great cattle to look at. The other angus classes on the day were strong also on back of the aldi abp irish angus class with other 80 angus cattle there. All going well I will be there again next year as the sponship of the class has been extended for 3 more years.

Did you have any stock in it yourself?
There was big prizemoney for the angus and to be fair they were some super angus cattle there alright. It was well laid out alright and the good day really made it.

I had 2 there myself, one got into final 10/12 of the younger bull class, the older dude didn't make the grade. I try to breed with dairy man in mind (calving difficulty of betweeen 1% to 2%) where some of the bulls at the top on sat would be tougher calving than that... i would be short an inch or 2 on the boys at the top end. I knew the guys that won there great wins for them all... they nearly got the price of a handy bull in prizemoney and still had the bull to sell. 3 of the bulls there were sold to Scotland on the day and there was one guy considering an offer for a fourth bull.

Great advertising for the breed and no doubt over the next 4 years it will get bigger
