Corolla Verso 2004 hot start

    Hi
My verso went into safe mode for a sec while going up a hill fully laden. later on the journey it cut out going over a ramp and was really hard to start. Ever since then it's running slightly rougher with a taping noise. But the real problem is if it gets warmed up it's hard to restart. from cold it starts no problem.
Local dealer plugged it in (really quickly) and told me I need to replace all injectors @ €1750. came up 2.? and 1 is good and 5 is shagged. and why all 4 ?
Why would injectors cause this? from cold maybe but from hot I just don't get it. I was expecting EGR or something like that.
Same issue as this youtube post but I don't see how a starter can be the issue either.

    strange one !!

Starting from hot could be a coolant temperature sensor giving bad info maybe?

The Injectors are coded to the ECU, if one or more of the injectors reads pressures outside the parameters then the ECU will not allow the engine to start.
If your starter is not turning the engine fast enough the pump can't build enough pressure to start.
there is a TSB which details the issue and you could check your starter to see if it is affected.

Thanks. I had changed the coolant a while ago and thought there might be an air bubble and I was able to get another 250ml or so in so maybe running too hot.

Thanks. that TSB means it actually could be the starter. But with the injectors showing not so perfect readings I'll treat them to a dose of injector cleaner and give it a couple of weeks. As for the starter I may aswell replace it.
