    Lads

Air con in my car isn't throwing the cold air out the way it should be, sounds like it needs to be re-gassed. I know it can be done by a garage but I saw the stuff to do it in Halfords, is it awkward to do I wonder, I could really use the money I save by doing it myself. Thoughts?

By the time you buy the gas and connector hose you will have spent something like €70.00. Granted you will get some money back when you return the empty gas cylinder to Halfords (think the old bottle refund scheme), but you will have to wait until you use the cylinder up etc.

I would suggest you try and get it done at a specialist, I can recommend one in the Dublin area, I am sure there are others in Cork. The advantage being that you will not be left with a half can of gas and if there is something wrong other than being low on gas, they should spot it. It should not cost much more that the Halfords price.

What him say. In my experience it's more likely to be leaking to some extent anyway.

That makes sense. I'll bring it to a garage. Thanks lads.

Try fast fit. 40 euro for regass. Got mine done and had same problem of air not getting cold.

Usually garages outsource aircon problems to a specialist. It may be better to find out who they use in your area.

I used Halfords. NOT happy. I don't think their "trained staff" had a clue. Hi simply connected up the bottle, and pulled the trigger on the valve. Showed me the needle pointing to the "green" part of the dial on his valve, and said There you go. Absolutely no improvement to the air-con, In hind-sight, Im not even convinced he connected up to the correct valve.
Regardless, they still charged me 35 quid. saying they have to charge for time and materials anyway.
I feel like i've been scammed.
