Delay On Tax Return Coming Back From Revenue

I sent a form 12 to revenue some weeks ago (its just over six weeks since it was received).

I've rung the PAYE phone service a few times to check on the status but the automated service just says that its receiving attention (its been saying this for about four weeks). However, it also says average waiting time is three - four weeks.

Is this kind of timespan usual as it has gone well past the three - four weeks stated by the automated phone service? I've done this kind of return before and its always come back within two - three weeks (albeit earlier in the year, and on the previous ones its been me owing them whilst this time, because I didn't work much last year, I think they owe me).

Just stay on the line until you can speak to a person and find out the status of your return rather than going by an automated response.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I tried to call Revenue today and the first time I hung up when they said I would have to wait 10 minutes and the second time I tried the answering machine said I would have to wait 12 minutes to speak to somebody!!!! This seems a very long wait on an average Tuesday afternoon - is this normal?

unfortunately ya, that often is the wait time. sometimes it counts down to 1 minute and goes back up to 5 minutes again :( drives me mad

It appears Revenue are really slow at the moment. They rang me in early July to confirm they were sending out an LPT refund. I got it yesterday - I contacted them twice in between.

I submitted my 2013 income tax return in January and it took the, ages to send the notice of assessment. As I was due a large refund, I rang to follow up. It seems they forgot about me. I got it soon after. Hang on the line until you speak with someone.

They are very slow compared to previous years. I submitted a Form 11 on ROS on the 30th July that generated a refund. I will waiting for it to be completed. I have been onto them twice but it's still in the queue. Previous years it was completed within a week.
