Couple of years back there was great debate about buying camera gear from SimplyElectronics with some people reporting horror stories and others (including me) getting on fine with them.

I haven't seen any mention of them lately so I'm just wondering if people here have bought from them recently (past 12 months or so) and how they got on. I'm seriously thinking of getting a 5dMkIII + 24-105 and it's the guts of €1000 cheaper with SE compared to shops here.

They have updated their terms and no longer claim to handle the taxes for you. You must pay.

    Old:
    Taxes

By purchasing a product through the Site, customers outside of Hong Kong authorise SimplyElectronics to make arrangements for clearance of customs on their behalf for the products they have ordered. As importing products from overseas can be a hassle for most of our international customers, we choose to handle this process on the your behalf. The purpose of this arrangement is to simplify the process of buying internationally and make budgeting easier for your purchases. Prices shown on SimplyElectronics.net are the final total you have to pay to have the order delivered to your door, without any customs delay. Please note that you are the importer of the order, and it is your responsibility to check with your local Customs regarding matters of import restrictions/prohibited goods. For more information on customs issues and import handling for customer outside of Hong Kong please [click here] .

    New:
    Payment Fees and Charges

You agree to pay all fees and charges incurred in connection with your purchases (including any applicable taxes) at the rates in effect when the charges were incurred. Unless you notify Simply Electronics of any discrepancies within sixty (60) days after they first appear on your credit card statement, you agree that they will be deemed accepted by you in all respects and for all purposes. If Simply Electronics does not receive payment from your credit card issuer or its agent, you agree to pay all amounts due upon demand by Simply Electronics or its agents.

    Taxes

By purchasing a product through the Site, customers outside of Hong Kong will normally be subjected to import duties and taxes and any other applicable customs related costs. Customs policies differ from country to country, which may result in indirect customs related costs in addition to the directly related customs costs charged by the courier. Customers typically should contact their local customs office if more information is required about this. Simply Electronics will have no control over applicable customs policies. You agree that you are the sole importer of the product(s) and are responsible for all import duties and taxes, and any related levies for the purchase of your product(s).

P&B try looking at Digital Rev and post to the UK. Change your address to a UK address where you view the item in your basket. (You can use parcel motel for the UK address as they accept signed for parcels)

    http://www.digitalrev.com 5d mk3 with 24-105 €3522.48 in Euro to Ireland or £2279 stg (€2841.00 approx using xe.com)
I know from the UK forums a good few have used this before. I haven't personally so you might want to check it out more.

Isn't that Digital Rev £STG price exclusive of VAT and duty? The €EUR price for delivery to Ireland includes taxes.

Onestop Digital refund the VAT and have the 5DIII and 24-105 on for €2,824.23

    http://www.onestop-digital.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=34045&currency=EUR

I've used them a few times with no complaints. Super fast shipping too.
