I got these in the giant store on the longmile road:

    Very comfortable.

    They have these too:

I have these on my hybrid , got them a bit cheaper than the price in the ad so shop around. They are very good despite being a bit expensive. http://m.ebay.ie/itm/371120099538?nav=SEARCH

Best I've come across are the Specialized ergo bar ends. I had them on a previous bike, and bought them again recently through Evans. I'd forgotten how great they are.

I have a pair of Ergon bar ends on mm MTB-the ergonomic shape on the handlebars and a little bit sticking out the side. They are pretty good, if you have a look on some of the German sites (bike-discount.de, bike-components.de or a few others) you should find them in the handlebar section.

Yep, the Ergon ones are really good. One thing to note though, the manufacturers tell you not to use the grip ends on carbon bars due to much higher chance of failure due to increased stresses.

Thanks, I think I'm going to go with those ones as the extra bit at the end of the bar gives another hand position than other types.

Didn't know that, thanks. I'm riding a 2011 version of a Boardman Comp pro which AFAIK has carbon forks but I'm unsure of the handlebars. If they are carbon would there be anyway to still fix the Ergon grips on I wonder? And what exactly is the risk with carbon, that the grips might slip if you're leaning on the bull bars too much ?

The risk is the bars won't be strong enough to withstand the increased forces these bar ends will apply, and could fail/snap in use.

Oh, and here was me thinking the danger was the grips might slip a few centimeters! I didn't know a carbon bar could snap that easily. Would you class it is a big risk or are instances of it pretty rare and tend to only happen under race conditions?

To give some background I'm a leisure cyclist, my plans for the bar ends was just to give another couple of hands positions. While I would likely be using them for climbing it would never be under any kind of race conditions where a rider is really using them hard for torque to sprint up a hill. Any hills near me are pretty short in any case. I suppose what I'm saying is I'd never truly be testing them in the way others would.

I'd imagine it's unlikely under normal circumstances.

Thanks, think I'll go with the Ergon GP5 as they look a good shape for what I'm after. They'll never get stressful use for long periods so hopefully I'll be fine

Yeah, I'd imagine the legal folks ensure these specs are on the conservative side.

I found the Ergon GC3 on Amazon for £34 +£3 UK postage to Parcel Motel.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ergon-grip-GC3-L-ergonomic-grips/dp/B00266DZJE/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2XEJBEI0NRD3V

Seems like a good price, should work out more or less €50 delivered.

The Ergon GP5 seems almost identical in shape to the above GC3 but seems to retail at £55-65 everywhere.

Think I'll purchase the GC3 version over the weekend.

I tried an older version of these and went back to a simple long aluminum bar end. The short ergonomic rubber bar ends seemed to have a pressure point on the heel of my hand. I don't have that with longer alu ones. Everyone is different etc.

Looks like the GP5 is the current version, GC3 a previous model, hence the better price. Note the one pictured in Amazon is the GP5, even says so on the side... Wiggle have the GC3 image correct.
