Saorview compatible TV - no channels????

I posted this over in Home Entertainment, but they recommended this forum for a more "expert" opinion. I would really appreciate if anybody has come across this situation and how they solved it.

I bought a Samsung UE 40D 5520 television in 2011 and was told that it is Saorview compatible. At the time, i was using a cable provider (UPC), so i did not have the opportunity to test this. I have recently moved house and am now connected to an aerial. When i do an installation, the TV does not pick up any stations. If i place an external saorview box between the aerial and the television, it will pick up the saorview channels.

Is it reasonable to assume from this that the aerial is working, but the TV is no decoding the digital signal? I checked in the shop, and they say that this model should decode without the need for a saorview box.

I do not want to have to use an external saorview box. I have a remote control for the TV, one for the satellite, and if i end up with a third for saorview, it will be a pain in the a__, especially after forking out for a saorview compatible TV.

    Any ideas what to do?

It's approved alright. Maybe you need to change a setting somewhere

I'd be checking the aerial. What type is it? If you could describe it's shape/orientation. Roughly where are you and which direction is it pointed? Is there a direct connection to the aerial or is there a booster box or splitter in the path?

How are you tuning in the channels? Is there an option to select cable or aerial?

There's an option for Cable or Air which you need to choose Air then you get an option for Digital or Terrestrial and you need to pick Digital and the scan for channels which should find your channels for you.

Thanks. I can't believe what a dunce I am! When I saw cable or air, I said to myself, well it is connected to the aerial by a cable, so it must be cable. Doh!

Selected air as suggested and all fine now.
