Anyone working/studying in the biology department?

    Hi all!

I am a small hobbyist in micro biology, and I am trying to freeze dry some specimens. Unfortunatelly I need for that a little bit of dry ice(both for flash freezing and for the moisture trap). I have been considering many solutions that are not prohibitely expensive to get dry ice and was asking in the dublin boards.ie forum.

Someone suggested that there might be some leftover shipping dry ice that comes sometimes when enzymes/specimens are shipped, and that it's usually discarded. Would there by any chance I could recycle some of these?

    Thanks a million,

    -Paul

Pretty much every bio lab here would be able to spare some. Just whether college would like it being given out is only issue, who's responsible if you end up with a cryoinjury or make dry ice bombs, as extreme examples!

makes sense. I'd be quite happy to sign a waiver of course.

Plus dryice is fairly easily available online if you're ready to spend the money.

Also there is no biology department. Might be worth emailing the technical staff in departments like microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, maybe chemistry, and asking if they'll give you some directly.
