    I'd be looking at something like this... 7 seater would handy with 5 in the family, very safe also....mpg not amazing at about 31/2 mpg for the 2.4 diesel auto, but you would get one well under budget so kinda balances out...

    The XC90 are great but it's hardly economical as OP wanted.

    That sort of cash would surely get a Skoda Superb, for the family the estate is more practical and a decent looking bus too. Mightn't bee over exciting.

    Superb estate would definitely have to be up there. They're massive! And pretty good all rounders. I'm always impressed when I sit into one.

    highly recommend c4 grand picasso. great all rounder for family and comfy to drive also and very good on juice. pm me if you want greater detail

    3008 is a nice car to drive for something that tall as long as it's not the automatic. The split tailgate is surprisingly handy for getting awkward sized loads in the back.
