Copyright issues when posting to Facebook, youtube and vimeo

Apologies for putting this in after hours (I looked under the tech options and wasn't quite sure where to post). Please move thread if necessary.

Here's my problem. A friend asked me to make a video of her wedding, and to use the Lumineers 'Hey ho' as the music. I've spent hours and hours perfecting the video, and finally got it finished yesterday. However, Facebook and vimeo removed it due to copyright issues.

Is there any way to by-pass this? I know she would like to share the video on her facebook with her friends and family.

Any help/hints would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, don't use copyrighted music or seek permission first.

Pay royalties but use this instead. Its probably better. Just loop it

The copyright owners have already asked Youtube/Facebook to not allow it to be used. Effectively, it's a standing 'take down' order.
You can contact the copyright owners and get permission in writing. Then appeal the decision by Facebook/Google etc and show them you have permission.

'Fair Use' is a concept that's alien to many artists/record labels and companies.

Your wedding video will sound like an episode of "Hows it Made".

Thanks for the advice CrazyRabbit. One further question...Would the copyright holder be The Lumineers themselves, or a record company like EMI for example? I suppose if worst comes to the worst i'll just have to remove that music and use some generic plop instead!

Depends on the deal/contract the band have.........but more than likely the record company own the copyright.

Play the video at 2x speed and it will avoid the copyright stuff. Plus, it'll look hilarious.

Someone made that music and they don't want you to use it without paying.

I would happily pay for it in this instance if I knew how to. The bride requested it specifically, and I spent so much time on the video editing that it's a shame to have to change it.

    mod

Closed, asking about obtaining the rights to use music is ok I guess but not asking how to bypass it or get around it.
