Help with Data Protection Access Request

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if this is in the right section or not.

I'm trying to make a request to the Gardaí for a copy of any data they may be holding about me using the form on the citizens information website.

The problem I am having is that it opens with this:

"Within the terms of Section 4 of the Data Protection Act(s), 1988/2003, I wish to apply for access to a copy of my personal data that may be in existence within An Garda Siochana, specifically in respect of the following:

Please Specify: "

I don't think I've committed any crime, so I'm not sure what to write in this section. I literally just want to know if anything is being held.

don't use the form. just write and say under data protection i ask for any info...

Very offhand, there are exceptions to what can be divulged under the DPA and some of that relates to what the Guards might have on people. So a specific information request which targets the information the OP wants might work better.
