Can I still get a lip piercing if I occasionally suffer from cold sores?

I have suffered from cold sores since I was about four years old. I used to get them two or three times a year which is not bad, I know. I don't get them as frequently now though. The last time I had one was at least a year ago. I want to get a lip piercing and have permission to do so, but I was wondering if a cold sore would affect the lip piercing in anyway as I probably will suffer from a cold sore again in the future. Thank you for any information.
