    Hi guys,
Looking at buying an insignia but seems so many models available.
Just wondering as they are a big car, wud it be better to have the 160bhp version as i was wondering wud the car be too heavy for the 130bhp and be as such underpowered??
Few people i know bought a new pug 308 and got the 92 bhp 1.6 diesel version and find it sluggish..where as if they had known there was a 1.6 diesel 115bhp version available.
    Cheers for the help

we have the 130bhp estate as a company car and I've been in it many times and its certainly not underpowered.
The car can be loaded up in the boot and never felt sluggish

not sure exactly which model he has, all I know is that its the SE spec

its a 11 reg and maybe came out just before the eco models became available
all in all he says its economical for what he gets from it

the gurus will certainly add more to the thread once they log in

    I'm here :p

It's actually a 130ps SC Estate that you have - they were all ecoFLEX models by that stage. Messed with the gearing so weren't as nice as the early models to drive, but there is very little driving difference between the 130 & the 160 models.

OP - avoid the basic S model, it's a miserable place to be. SC is the minimum specification to go for. Most SC models would have the Plus Pack that gave (very nice IMO) 18" alloy wheels (rather than the standard 17" wheels with composite hubcaps), and front fog lights. Doesn't get rear electric windows, but has Cruise Control & Climate Control. Bluetooth wasn't standard, but was specified on a lot of cars as an option.

    Higher specs are:

SRi - Sports model. Great Sports Seats, 18" Alloys
SE - Half Leather seats, Dual Zone Climate, Auto lights & wipers, 18" Alloys
Elite - Full Leather, Xenons, Elec adjustable heated seats, 18" Alloys

If there isn't much difference in price, go for the Elite - it's quite a nice place to be, and only came with the 160ps engine (before the facelift). If there is a big price difference, I'd be happy with the SC with a Plus Pack.

Ive noticed some cdti and crdi models and some are ecoflex too..what category do these fall under? I suppose what im getting at too is if im buying one is it worth while buying a model that is ecoflex? As they are meant to be economical.
Cheers for all the help.seems a lot of models out there

The ecoFLEX models are cheaper to tax, and should be more economical, but whether that's true in real life usage, I don't know. The pre ecoFLEX models were better to drive, as they have different gear ratio's and a more linear power delivery.

Early models were all badged CDTi. 130 models had a Black i, the 160 models had a Black Ti. ecoFLEX models are all badged as ecoFLEX regardless of the power output, and are very difficult to tell apart from one another.

They are back now to CDTi badges, with Black letters to differentiate between the 140ps and 163ps models.
