    Hi all,

Starting from this Thursday, I will be in Berlin for 4 days, staying in Mitte across from the Museam island. I have never been before, so looking forward to experience this party vibe I hear so much about. I was planning to kick start my adventure by taking an alternative pub crawl, offered by the chaps at the following website.

    alternativeberlin.com/berlin-alternative-pubcrawl

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with a guided tour of Berlin's night scene and could make any recommendations? I was also planning to get another walking tour in during the day on Friday, any recommendations would be most appreciated, as I'd like to learn more about this cities amazing history, too.

    Kind regards,
    Mike

Well, your tour seems to take you out into districts other than Mitte. The other decent ones, really. I'm sure it'll be very enjoyable (if not enjoyable for the people in the bars you bail into!). It's hard to tell without seeing the tour's actual itinerary.

I mean, it says you go to squats ... cool, but hard to believe they're real squats - maybe ex-squats. The tours seem to meet in and around Rosa-Luxemburg Plaz/Senefelder Platz, so that's OK.

In fairness, Berlin is a big place and any tour who can bring you to the 'hot places' is a help, yet at the same time, I can't tell you how horrified I was last year when I saw a rake of mad stag parties, even with hoardes of Brits dressed as Roman legionnaires, coalescing around Simon-Dach Strasse in Friedrichshain, which has never happened in as long as I've been going there on hols nearly ten years ago. Then, squats were squats.

Still, you'll have a good time.

Brewer's walking tours were good, I did an 8 hour tour with them and really liked it. They do shorter tours and some specific tours (DDR, Third Reich).

Mitte is definitely good for the nightlife.

Just to add, that alternative Berlin tour was amazing. I had so much fun and met so many friendly people. I'd highly reccommend it.
