How long do injury claims usually take?

Basically the title says it all. I had an accident at the end of may and I'm going back to college in 3 weeks without a penny to my name so starting to get worried :/ It was as a result of the fall that I couldn't work all summer. I have a bulging disc in my back.

1 day to 4 years or perhaps longer. What does your solicitor say or are you going the PIAB route?

Solicitor says I should have an offer before Christmas but 'it probably won't be an offer you'll take'

Once claim is submitted to the piab, it usually takes 7 months on average, or so the website says. Herniated disc can be quite painful. Must have been an awkward fall. But, as a student, you're supposed to be penniless :p

I fell down the stairs onto my back holding about 30kg of rubbish, it wasn't pretty :P
Cheers for the advice guys, sponging off the parents and pot noodle for dinner it is then :(

I love how your username is "ArseMonger1".

    Was "ArseMonger" alone already taken?!

Interested to see one of your later posts regarding how accident happened. First and most importantly there needs to be liability for a claim to be possible.

Back onto topic... how long. I'd concur with previous post. Could be 1 day to 4 years. In my own situation it was just shy of 4 years.

"Typical" process, if going PIAB route and everyone is happy. Solicitor prepares claim for PIAB, submitted to PIAB.... PIAB writes out to respondent (party alleged to be at fault).... assuming respondent accepts/doesn't reject liability then the PIAB process starts, note they have 28 days to respond to this initial contact..... "typical" running time in PIAB is circa 7/7.5 months at which they propose a settlement figure. Assuming both parties accept (respondent has 21 day to respond, claimant has 28 days to respond).... assuming acceptance then an order to pay is produced and then respondent has circa 21/28 days to pay.

I've included "typical" quite a bit because this isn't always the case, in my situation I was in PIAB for 19 months and it was kicked down to court but injuries were quite complex.

    Hope it helps
