Dig up back garden and pave

    Hello,

I am sick of the back garden and having to cut it and pick up the dog waste from it every few days. It's not even nice looking so I want to pave over the grass area and put some garden furniture there instead.

I have never done this before so would like some advice.

Do I need planning permission to do this? Do I need to take precautions that there may be piping under the soil and if there is will I need to make access to those pipes easy?

The grass area is roughly 3m*5m

What is the best way to dispose of the soil that is dug up?

I am sure there are other things I will need to take into account so any advice is welcome.

Edit: I was also thinking about slabs. It would work out cheaper but I an worried about weeds growing between the slabs and having to pull them every now and then.
