    Looking at going to Far East for about 3 weeks in late October or November. Would like to stop in Dubai or Abu Dhabi for a couple of nights on the way out. Would like to include some combination of Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore. Am open to other suggestions. Am I better picking someone like Emirates for the outward and return journey and using smaller airlines for the inter-city hops.
    Would love to hear suggestions.

    Any suggestions ?

    My route for last visit was as follows;
    Flight in KL.
    Internal flight with Tiger Airlines to Penang.
    Over land by train from Georgetown to Bangkok.
    Taxi to Pattaya and back to Bangkok.
    Fly to Hong Kong with Emirates.
    Return to Dublin, via Dubai, with Emirates.

    Other suggestions welcome !

    I'v been to Hong Kong and Singapore, both very nice. Singapore would have been the most recent, Hong Kong was in the time of colonial rule, very interesting with lots to see, a trip to mainland China being a must at the time. Singapore is small, you'll get through it in a few days, duck tour, drinks at Raffles Hotel, (public bar only), plenty of history on the 1942 surrender to the Japenese, also you can do day trips to Malaysia.

    You should be able to fly into Singapore/KL and home from Bangkok on the same ticket. Coming home from HK might also be possible. Emirates and Etihad are pretty good about adding multi stops. So are Turkish Airlines and Istanbul would be a much more interesting stopover than Dubai IMO but that's up to you.

    There are multiple low cost carriers operating in the region. Tiger that you've mentioned, Air Asia, Nok Air (within Thailand), Thai Smile (Thai Airways low cost little brother), Lion Air, Orient Thai and others I can't remember.

    If you're in Bangkok a good option is to use Don Muang airport aka the domestic airport but it flies within the region. Air Asia pretty much run the joint and you can pick up very cheap fares around South East Asia. Wouldn't be too bothered with KL, I'd be inclined to add in Phnom Penh.

    Just looked up a multi-stop in November with Emirates.
    Connecting flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong using Emirates and returning from Hong Kong via Dubai was only €100 dearer than flying into Bangkok and getting to Hong Kong with another airline, like Tiger. Quick look at Tiger site showed fares around €100 for the same connecting flight.
    Main advantage with Tiger and other smaller airlines are the different options that they provide.
