Hi I have posted this in the distance learning thread but feel I have a better chance of getting reply's here as it is related to farming. I would really really appreciate it if someone who has done or knows someone has done either of the below courses can provide me with feedback on it

I know that very often staff in Teagasc and in the Leader funding offices have completed these courses..

While interesting I think qualifications in Rural Development will narrow employment opportunities down to quite a small band of jobs..

I know one other professional with this qualification outside the above but they are a specialist Bat conservationist and I'm not sure the qualification is really relevant there either..

    Best of luck

    Hi snoozin,
I did the MSc in Rural Development in 2001, it was an okay course, not actually too difficult and i was able to get the time off work to do it. I did it in a place called the Rural College in Draperstown, so didn't have to travel to Galway thankfully. The course was on a fri afternoon and evening and saturday morning over two years and was a really mixed crowd who did it. I still see quite a few of the folks that did it with me and they're all involved within the rural development sector and farming in some aspect. Tbh I don't think it had any big effect when it came to applying for jobs, but then that's over 14 years ago when competition for jobs was less than now. the content was mainly EU policy/CAP reform/Survey methodology etc, minimal agricultural content, although my thesis was on the impact of FMD on the farming community.
