Hi, I start a new job on the 1st September. I'll be getting paid monthly. I'm on job seekers allowance at the moment. Im wondering do I sign off from the dole before I start working? If I do sign off, im left without money for a month though.

    Correct.

    Joys of getting paid monthly.

If you can, then use an overdraft. There are interest free ones with UB. And cut back as much as you can for the one month.

Go to your CWO. You're entitled to the supplementary welfare allowance until you get paid. You need a letter from your new employer saying you're not getting paid until whatever date at the end of September or the beginning of October.

I was at a group meeting a couple of months ago and I was told this.

There is not an automatic entitlement to swa it is a means tested payment. The OP can approach their cwo and apply for an interim payment. You could also ask your employer for and advance payment.
