I heard importing a second hand Mercedes benz C-Class would cost less from Germany? Is it true?

Probably but it will be left-hand drive which might involve an insurance loading. You'll probably need to drive it from there to here because the transport costs would definitely swing things in favour of a UK import. I'd also watch for corrosion from salt as a result of autobahn gritting, their winters are a lot more severe than here or the UK.

You might also be able to find a rhd car - it's a big country so you don't really care where the car is for sale...

Autoscout.de used to allow you to specify right had drive as a search criteria, I'm on a phone and the mobile site doesn't offer that option - try the full site. Your looking for "Rechtslenker"

If the postcode starts with 1 or 0 in the east and it seems super cheap then be extra vigilant.

A lot of re-imported stuff from Poland that was crashed/exported and re-imported with a nice clean DEKRA cert :P

Every now and then i shop for a discovery 3 (even though i know im not getting one yet)

But the uk ones in good nick are about 10-14K sterling. So to put that into euro and conversion charge makes it plenty of euros.

But the german ones in good shape are 10-12.5 euro. And thats it.. just vrt which is on the uk ones anyway and their also great spec.

Spec in ireland is muck compared to the forigen lads
