Is there anywhere I can obtain legal advice without having to go to a solicitor who will rip me off? I just have one specific question i need to ask and i dont want to be paying through the nose for it...

If you only have one question, a solicitor might answer it for free...

Is there anywhere I can go for some building work. I only want a small wall built and I don't see why I should be ripped off by paying for his/her time and materials.

I know a mechanic who had some guy drop in with his car. He said that he wanted a few bits and pieces done for the NCT but that he didn't want to pay.

The mechanic gave him some low enough estimate.

No. The man wanted to pay absolutely nothing.

The mechanic had to tell him that they wouldn't be able to do business.

Anyone know any free doctors? I've a headache.

Sure, maybe you could advise him NipNip. You have a free solicitor, but you are still doing the work yourself! :pac:

I didn't recommend it as a way to proceed. Just as an option! :D

Incidentally, that free solicitor didn't reply to my invitation to undo the damage I have already done - for free. Chicken.

So you tossed him a hand grenade and he fired it right back at you before it blew up in his face!? The bastard! :pac:

Only joking. Sure, give him a chance to sort it at least. It can be frustrating and counterproductive to have a client moving the goalposts when you are trying to sort out a problem. No offence.

I doubt he was ever going to handle the hand grenade that I am for free. :pac:

Well, if FLAC can't help, there's the legal aid board.

There's usually somebody who can help, if you look hard enough.

I've decided that it's not a fight I'm going to win - so I'm bowing out - disgracefully.

Unless my opposing solicitor decides to give me a job - ever the optimist! :)

I know how to spell manoeuvere. Beat that you secretary in place for 25 years (you'd think she'd have learned how to google!).
In explanation........ my opposing solicitor sent me a letter with the word 'manover'. I felt compelled to correct his/her ass on that.

You might want to edit that quickly...

You just had to spot it. I did concede in reply that the spelling of the word obfuscated me also.
Yes, the solicitor used the word 'obfuscate' to me.

THIS, OP, is why you should always seek the advice of a solicitor. I swear they're in some sort of sect (I joke). But generally, they seem to know the ins and outs of manoeuvering and obfuscation..... ;)

    Don't go NipNip, you're great craic. :)

I am great craic! Now, if only a few other people realised this (big shout out to opposing solicitor here!), then I might not be becoming homeless very soon. I think that using the words 'plank' and 'your client' in the same sentence really did not endear me to him.
    Ach - life!

Asking a hypothetical question on this forum seems to work for a lot of people. :pac:
