Mock VS Leaving Cert Results

    How did yours compare? I had very big gaps in home ec and biology. Did higher level home ec. In the mocks I got an E and came out with a C3 in the real thing. For my ordinary level biology mock, I received an F - C2 for the leaving cert. For English at higher level. I got a C3 in the mocks and this time I got a C1. Failed higher business by a few percentage, dropped to ordinary and got a B2. Also failed FL maths embarrassingly in the mocks (subject I've always struggled with majorly) and got a D2 this time. However, my grades did drop in French and Irish, which I know is definitely due to the orals! C2 in irish this time, got a C1 in the mocks. For French, I received a B3 in the mocks and my lc result was a C1. Irish and French were both ordinary! SO, yeah quite a lot of fluctuating :p:D How did everyone else do compared to the mocks? :)

    525->600

    I improved all my results except for the subject I wasn't counting. I got no A1s in the mocks. I'll list them all with mock result first followed by actual result.

    Eng: A2 -> A1
    Irish: A2 -> A1
    Maths: C1 -> B1
    Acc: A2 -> A1
    French: B1 -> A1
    Chem: B3 -> B3
    Business: C1 -> A2

    My business mock was probably worth about a B2 but the "corrector" didn't actually read our answers at all.

    I'm glad I got all the A2s in the mocks to A1s though, and I was really happy with the languages.

    Got 545 in the mocks and 535 in the LC. Safe to say I was pretty annoyed on Wednesday. Got consistent A1's in Geography and Economics the past 2 years and ended up with an A2 and B1 respectively. Honestly don't know where I went wrong between Feb. and June but I guess I just didn't perform on the day.

    Same here points-wise

    Went down from an A1 in maths in both mocks (we did 2) to a B1, but went from a B3 in applied maths to an A2 which made up for it :pac:

    Went from 285 in the mocks to 460 in the real thing
    I was very disappointed in the mocks and that motivated me to work a lot harder for the LC
    Got and E in Business and Physics in the mocks and got a B1 and B3 respectively in the real thing.
    Just goes to show that anything is possible.

    Geography - A1 - A1
    Biology - B2 - B1
    Art - B3 - B1

    Very surprised with english and irish going up so I'm fairly delighted overall. except for maths, im gonna view it and see if its worth appealing but I'm not exactly gifted at maths so I wasn't expecting more than a C2 and if I got a D1 I'm not all that surprised :pac:

    No Irish? Lucky fecker... If I didn't have to do Irish I could have replaced that B1 with and A in something I'm actually good at :pac:

    Oh yeah, Irish. :rolleyes:

    No I did actually do Irish. Up until the mocks I actually did a decent bit of work for it, but I hated the course and just wasn't bothered, so I did ordinary level for the real thing. I'm a little bit bitter about it to be honest so I just decided to leave it out hoping nobody would notice. :p

    Very very happy, it's nice to see a big jump from a lot of people between Mocks and LC. So it's true it actually can happen, I really didn't believe I'd get any higher than about 440 :P

    I went up but unhappy with some subjects.

    Irish HL b3-b3 (wasnt counting and did about 20m study)
    English HL b1-C1 (!!!)
    Maths HL C2- B1
    Business HL B1-A1
    Spanish HL B1 - A1
    Art HL B1- B1
    Ag Science HL A2- B2.
    (520-550)

    really frustrated at english as ive been a good B1 student all year and got a couple of A graded essays before June. Not sure if it was something on the day but definitely looking at it. Did anybody else go down substantially in english?
    Went down in AG science too, but a b2 isnt too unbelievable , maybe im just too used to getting 100% in our teachers handy tests.

    People who scored lowly may not want to post on this thread because of others scoring so highly
    Also some people may not be totally truthful either (it happens)
    There are a lot of factors to consider here to answer that question...

    Because it takes an exceptionally strange kind to use their free time in Leaving Cert to talk about the Leaving Cert.

    Went up a minute 5 points, Geography has totally bamboozled me and I'm disappointed with English as I was expected to get a B1/A2. Other than that it makes sense I think.
    English C1 > B3
    Maths C2 > A2
    Econ A1 > A2
    Geog A1 > B2
    Dcg B2 > B1
    French B1 > B1

    Thats 525 to 530 provisionally before recheck in geography.

    French A2 > A2
    Biology A2 > A2
    History B1 > B1

    Pres were a pretty good indicator tbh, but for me anyway it really did depend on the paper on the dag .

    525 -> 555

    OL Maths C2 -> A1
    HL English B3 -> B2
    HL French B1 -> A1
    HL German A1 -> A1
    HL Biology A1 -> A1
    HL Ag Science A1 -> B1
    HL Chemistry C2 -> A2

    Absolutely delighted with my results!

    I managed to improve on all my grades except Ag Science... Our mock was ridiculously easy though and I never really enjoyed the subject so I neglected it a tiny bit... Really regret that now tbh.

    Other than that I have to admit I'm a German native speaker so I was basically guaranteed an A1 in that subject, additionally I was exempted from Irish. Almost feels like cheating haha.
    I'm pretty proud of that B1 in HL English tbh, since I've only been living here for two years that's a big achievement for me :)

    I'm going to view all of my exam scripts just because I'm curious as to how they were marked, I also feel like I just need that sense of closure, y'know? :D
    And who knows maybe I can up that grade in Chemistry a bit, >560 points would be fantastic as I would qualify for the NUIG Excellence Scholarship, having missed it by 5 points ready annoys me (thinking about the money :D)!
    I'm going for Biomedical Science BTW, hope the points will stay close to 545 so I'm definitely safe getting in...

    Anyone else going for Biomed in NUIG? :)
