just wondering what your opinions are on whether it's worth getting an OS only boot SSD drive along side a HDD? looking at if it's worth doing. i know it will increase load times for the OS, but if all other data (games etc) are on the HDD, will it make much difference? thanks!

Imo its the best upgrade you can do to a pc.

Depending on what size your getting you can use for the OS plus one or maybe two games.
There are lots of guides online to change windows settings to recover some extra space on ssd's.

Best decision I made when building my last PC. It's wonderful to have it boot to desktop as fast or faster than a console takes to get to its main screen.

thanks! looking at Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SATA3 6Gbs as it's only a tenner more than the 60GB and then probably a 2TB HDD for storage. it ends up only adding about €50 to the total build cost and it seems totally worth it.

kingston, crucial and samsung are all great ssd's, so just go with whichever one is cheapest.

shop around, but i always try amazon.co.uk and then use camelcamelcamel to see what the pricing history is on any given item to see if you're getting the best deal.

scan.co.uk, overclockers.co.uk, ebuyer.com, dabs.ie elara.ie, komplett.ie and the likes are all good spots to check for the best prices.

also, this is 100% true ->

Same as terror. SSD prices have dropped so much its an option now to run a full SSD setup.

Even for chrome its a huge benefit as chrome's databases are drive thrashers.

    Definitely do it.

2 years ago i went with a ssd for OS, was great but i few months ago i got another bigger ssd for all my current games and it's fantastic, most games load in under 10 seconds, WoW loads from scratch into a large city with tonnes of people in 15 seconds, 5 seconds from login screen
