Our mgt company have now changed the codes for all the block doors now the only access to the carpark is though the lift. Whwre before we could use the stairs. Is this legal that the only access is though a lift.?

When in carpark u can use stairs to get out. But can't use them to get down to carpark as it locks from inside.

Did the company give a reason for the change in codes?

Seems like a fire hazard to me.

Are they refusing to supply the codes?

In a fire, all electronic locks should automatically unlock, so it shouldn't be a fire risk.

+1 , usually the codes are changed when people leave bikes / other stuff in the stairwells, which is a fire risk.

ask the management co. for the new code.

Has this anything to do with non-payment of management maintenance fees?

Are you renting or an owner? Does your lease include parking?
