    2005 model Jeep Grand cherokee.
    4.7 v8 petrol engine.
Fairly low mileage (I think under 80k miles).

How much could such yoke be worth in Ireland if I was to buy one?

    4k ish?

Bit of a guess but that's what I would see as ballpark.

You will probably have to pay someone to take that in this country. :)

Might be worth looking into exporting it and claiming some VRT back on it. It would have to have a minimum OMSP of €2k to get a VRT refund.

Car that I'm thinking about was imported in 2006, with VRT exemption, so VRT refund won't be possible.

What difference fact if vrt was paid or not, in relation to commercial conversion?

Even with the commercial tax, you'll still have to put petrol in it, and sure petrol is the devils piss, you'll go straight to hell for even thinking about crossing that stuff with a 4x4.
Nope, in this country only those who worship at the church of the black nozzle are worthy:D

    Appartently 41k for a 2004 4.0 Grand Cherokee lol

It will be very very difficult to sell.

Love the 4.7 grand cherokee WJ model
but with motor tax of 1809 or 500 a 1/4 they just don't make sense to buy.

They really are a beautiful machine
would be more valuable as a commercial or if I rephrase that easier to sell

Even at 2k you'll be a long time waiting for a buyer

Don't I know it, people look at me like I've two heads when I tell them to feck off after the usual "wouldn't you put an oul daysul in it" question, I love the sound of a proper V8 petrol engine even if the 101 only does 12mpg!

Need to start doing the lottery for the rumoured 5.0l supercharged petrol run out model of the Defender next year :D

I couldn't agree more.... I used to have a 5.7l petrol V8 Cadillac Fleetwood as my daily drive.... the rumble it made was just just glorious. But nowadays I'm slumming it in a super-efficient modern diesel car / tractor - baahumbug! So ya when I win the lottery I'm skipping out and buying a V8 Cadillac again. :D

Sounds like an interesting LPG conversion to me.

Any chance it would qualify under the new 5 seat commercial rules? You couldn't justify the tax on that, its going to cost nearly as much as the jeep is. Even if it is petrol the difference between commercial and private tax would put a lot of petrol in it.

At say 15mpg ? it would cost 5k for 10000 miles, 2k in tax(which doesn't seem too bad when you look at it that way, a few more euros in insurance and maintainance. It actually competes with a brand new diesel golf when you account for finance costs and depreciation of 4k a year say.

Doubt it would I tried and the cargo area was deemed to not be big enough. By the then DOE centre had all the other requirements fulfilled and last hurdle was doe test couldn't find a centre who who test it. All advised I have to take out rear seats etc etc

I love it. Forget the golf, I'm getting something with a massive V8!

v8 pickups are probably one of the most commonly sold vehicles for the last 50 years globally! Just not here :)

Because here it goes "ah jaysus, you'll be wantin' to drive one o'dem cears, ah jaysus now, dat's fierce fancy altogether. I'm telling you now, t'won't be chaep!"
It is because in this country we're scared to do anything big or loud it begrudge anyone who has anything too brash, everything has to be small, pokey, miserable, grey and ugly. Which us why going abroad always feels like taking the thumbscrews off. Here everything has to be so small that you feel suffocated.
