Best Laptop Brands

I was wondering what Laptop brands would be the best as I am going to buy a new laptop but am not sure which one to get.

I know Apple is the best but they are too expensive.

I have heard that Lenovo, ASUS and Toshiba are quite good.

The HP (Pavilion) aren't great and I don't know much about Acer.

I found the HP trackpads were quite rigidy and a bit uncomfortable.

I am looking for a good trackpad and a laptop with an i5 processor and at least 8GB RAM.

Depends on the model, the XPS range are very nice well finished laptops with great build quality, i got this one a few years ago xps L501x and if i had to buy again, it would be another xps!

Cheers, I am not going for an overly expensive one now and I might replace it with a Macbook in a few years.

In the past maybe - not so much anymore! :(

Google XPS 12 screen burn-in for example. Similarly there's problems with the display on the XPS 13 - over saturation etc

I have an XPS 12 here that's ok (typing this post on it).. but that's only because I deal with DELL for work as well and when my XPS started suffering the above screen burn-in I was able to escalate it .. after 3 replacement panels it still wasn't sorted and they eventually agreed to replace the machine entirely with this one.

Another one we had suffered a dead display.. took 4 callouts for that one before they agreed to replace it.

I have always bought DELL in the past but the quality of some of their latest stuff is making me start to question that. HP's are worse though and Lenovo's are overpriced and underspecced so I'm not sure what that leaves yet.
