Buying & insuring as a business

I know it's pretty common to get a commercial van or 4x4, but I'd like to get an estate car for business and personal use. I'm a company director & self-employed i.e. by the company. I'm also looking at the possibility of getting it wrapped with business messaging.

I was considering just buying it privately myself, personally, and simply ensuring I have a Class 1B or Class 2 insurance to cover the business use. That seems to be the least hassle, but I'm wondering if there are significant savings to go the other way.

Does anyone have experience of buying a car to use in this way? Did you have the business buy it? Apart from my accountant, where can I look for further info on this?
