    Heard of one where he was welcomed along into the team car into the passenger seat for a Tour De France years back.

    He lasted about twenty minutes in the team car before he was pulled out of it and put in the back seat. He had the lads (Armstrong included) in tears laughing and losing pace. :D

    He was apparently a keen jogger/runner until the knees gave out and took up cycling then.
    Seems to have been the real deal.

    He was a decent 34min 10k runner in his day, not too shabby.

    careful now guys,pretty sure i saw a pic of him doing a triathlon, i know how much the idea that triathletes are cyclists too galls some here, this might not go down too well. :)

    look up conan o'brien's tribute to him on his talk show. robin williams sent him a hideous bike to cheer him up when he was having a hard time a few years ago.
