    oil what's the best type?
    5W30, A1/B1 A5/B5 fully synthetic.
    spark plugs?
    Denso.
    oil filter
    Mann or toyota genuine.
    pollen filter
    Whatever.
    coolant?
    Toyota.
    wiper set
    Whatever.
    anything else?
I'd suggest new brake fluid as well as new transmission fluid (Motul Gear 300 75W90 if it's manual).
    thanks
    No problem.

You'll get everything for that car in a motor factors

For all the filters I'd recommend blueprint, they are excellent quality and at a good price.

For the plugs I use denso

For wipers, hella, valeo, champion or Bosch

For oil I'd recommend halfords at the moment as they have a good deal on

+1 for blueprint the air oil and pollen filters I have used for some time are good. micksgarage have good prices on these. I think it was two something for an oil filter and about seven or eight each for an air and pollen filter.

Today I picked up two jugs of halfords own 5w30 - ordered them online last week and got 10% off the sale price bringing it to 13.50 a bottle.

In terms of these parts I would price them at your local motor factors as well as micksgarage. Also if you order from micks garage email them saying that if they don't have your exact parts in stock to email you as they sometimes give a different brand product if what you ordered is not in stock.

There is a thread here where a lad gave details of how to service a car. His was an older toyota engine but still well worth a look.

    hi,
Got car checked at local garage last week - something was rattling underneath, and asked how much for a service - they said €85 - I said is that a full service and he said yes!

Can't be a full service at that price unless he is running a charity rather than a business.

Is the car even due a full service?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭toyotaavensis

he is probably just changing the oil and filter.

i dont know. got a full service last november. done a good bit of driving since. must check if mileage was noted anywhere.

Do you know the difference between a basic service and a full service?
