UPC to Freesat - Cable Distribution Question

This may not make much sense but let me see if I can explain myself and follow with a question.

I moved into a new house before xmas 2013. House was built in late 90s and had a cablelink point in the sitting room and 2 supplementary cable points in the kitchen and master bedroom.

I was previously with UPC so I just moved my UPC HD Box and BB Modem with me, plugged them in and after a call with UPC everything was working fine.

In the interim, there was a fault and the UPC guy came over and replaced the old Cablelink point with a UPC one. The points in the kitchen and master bedroom was untouched.

Now, I've been giving some thought to moving away from UPC altogether and going the FreeSat + Saorview option.

Don't worry, the question is coming...

Outside the house (like many others) there is a service boxes for gas, electric and cable (UPC).

Here's the main question I have - it is possible to take a Freesat feed and connect it into this Service Box to enable all my 3 points to carry the sat signal. My assumption is that the cable in the house is simple coax cable that could be used to carry any data, transmission signal.

If I could do that then I wouldn't need to run new cables (from Freesat) into the house and simple use the existing cabling.

Any input would be greatly received.

Each TV point requires a direct connection to the LNB on the satellite dish and if you also want to use the Freesat+ recording option a second cable to the TV point will be required also. Does the coax cable from all 3 TV points run back to the service box? Also what type of cable was used?

About 2 years ago I did the same for my sister in Dublin but decided against using the existing, mid 90s, thin grey coax cable and ran new cable to all points. Left the existing Cablelink cable and points in place if they decided to resubscribe in future.

OK so - that clears that up for me.

I'll need to run new cables for this.

    Thanks for the feedback.
